They may collect and analyze tissue samples, prepare slides for microscopic examination, and assist in the preparation of reports. They may also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory results. Job Skills Required Pathology Assistants must have excellent communication and organizational skills. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team. They must also be able to work with a variety of laboratory equipment and be familiar with laboratory safety protocols. Job Qualifications Pathology Assistants must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as biology, chemistry, or medical technology.
