They must be knowledgeable about the area they are guiding in and be able to provide information about the local flora and fauna. They must be able to plan and lead activities that are appropriate for the group they are guiding. They must also be able to assess the safety of the environment and the group, and be able to respond to any emergency situations that may arise.
