Night Shift Paint Prep Worker Jobs

Prior experience in vehicle paint process

Assist painter in pre-paint blending needs

Work with paint team to assist in keeping vehicle on track for scheduled delivery time

Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare vehicles for painting

Buff and wax the finished paintwork

Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties

Professional or Managerial experience in automotive manufacturing with a large team (80+)

8+ years of paint shop experience including knowledge of a greenfield start-up

Vehicle discount program for employees and family members, and management leases

Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum requirement, preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Demonstrate knowledge of environmental impacts of paint process equipment

Budget planning experience to include both operating and capital budgets

Electric Pallet Jack & Forklift experience preferred.

Must have worked in/be OK working in cold and wet environment

Capable of having a flexible work schedule with enough notice.

Proof of good attendance record (worked at previous companies for 6+ months in the past 2 years

Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of production operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production services data for reports.

Associates degree in related field and three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Provide daily direction and determine responsibilities of assigned staff to accomplish business objectives.

Experience with Plasma, Waterjet and Laser Cutting.

Experience with Metal Forming utilizing Rolls and Brake Presses

Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite required.

Experience in one or more of the following: masking, sanding, grinding and applying paint

What you will do - Essential responsibilities

Perform paint retouching, post-paint finishing, waxing and buffing to make cars look as good as new

Carry out dent repair, masking, sanding and grinding to ensure sound bodywork

Repair and replace small plastic and other parts to ensure everything about the vehicle is in good working order

Follow and promote CarMax's high standards of safety, cleanliness and organization

Must be able to work in cold/hot climates

Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Must be able to go up and down stairs

Must be able to use knives and scissors

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs

Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment

Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within required time

Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space

Reports all production waste to Production Lead or Supervisor

Remove any parts from the unit that must be removed for the paint process.

Cover all parts and areas that do not get paint with tape, paper, and plastic.

Apply blue stain to all fiberglass parts.

Sand and scuff all areas of the unit that are to be painted.
