They may be responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, preparing patient charts, and providing patient education. They may also be responsible for taking vital signs, preparing and administering medications, and performing laboratory tests. In addition, they may be responsible for providing assistance with minor medical procedures, such as wound care and immunizations. Skill Requirements Medical Assistants with Family Medicine must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment. They must also be detail-oriented and organized, and have the ability to multitask.
