Materials Characterization Engineer Jobs in California

Direct experience with characterization techniques such as ICP-OES, IC, GC-MS as well as lab skills such as precision pipetting and weighing

1-2 years of hands-on chemical lab experience, in academic or industry environment

Strong foundation in lab safety with good organizational skills

Experience working with quality control and some of the statistical analysis that come with it (Control Charts, MSA, Control Limits)

Combine data from multiple characterization tools to establish connections between process parameters and cell performance

Improve existing SOP of analytical methods with the aim of decreasing noise and augmenting instrument precision

Experience with materials research with a focus on fundamental chemictry understanding of material structure and properties

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The willingness to work in a laboratory setting and conduct experiments in gloveboxes and dry room environments.

The inclination to take initiative and ownership of your work and the ability to prioritize tasks.

A strong attention to detail.

Perform literature search on recent advances in state-of the-art instrumentation for characterizing battery cell components.

Develop, update and maintain material development testing requirements and standards to ensure appropriate material performance for end use

3-5 years of experience managing and analyzing testing of materials, preferably naturals based materials

Knowledge of Industry Standard Test Methods and application based on material selection

Knowledge of textile construction to allow appropriate interpretation of test results

High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are required.

Solid understanding and hands-on experience in SEM-EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy - Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis) techniques.

Experience in sample preparation such as cross-sectioning, mechanical/chemical polishing, and/or ion milling.

Experience in other material analysis techniques such as XRD, XRF, TEM, and/or XPS is a plus, but not required.

Experience working in a chemistry lab environment.

Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office.

Excellent communication and organization skills

* Hands-on experience with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)

* Hands-on experience with microhardness testing (Vickers, Knoop)

Excellent written & verbal communication skills and proven leadership ability.

Ph.D. M.S. or B.S. degree in Chemistry, Material science, or Chemical Engineer with experience in Material/Chemical industries

Self-starter with proven ability to lead a project from lab scale development to high volume production without major last minute surprises

Exceptional organizational & time management skills, and attention to detail.

Experience/knowledge with expression and purification of recombinant therapeutic proteins including design and execution from DNA to protein

Experience and knowledge of protein and antibody structure, sequences, engineering and design.

Experience/knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence for the ab initio design and optimization of biologics.

Skills/Knowledge in one or more of the following areas are a plus:
