Architecture and Design - participates in the definition and documentation of requirements, architecture and design of web-based applications.

Professional experience in software engineering and delivering large scale systems.

Programming experience developing, implementing, debugging, and maintaining applications with Python.

Maintaining and designing software for regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. HIPAA).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

At least 0-5 years of experience in a research laboratory or biopharma / biotech company setting.

Hands-on experience with analysis of NGS data and cloud computing is required.

Experience in Python, and demonstrated experience in other programming R, Bash/Shell, SQL, javascript

Experience with open-source bioinformatics and genome analysis tools.

Strong desire to lean new skills and grow scientifically

Setup and operate bioinformatic workflows for core experiments supporting discovery biology activities including LNP & mRNA screening.

Master of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience with biomedical research required

Experience with Next Generation Sequencing data (genotyping, whole exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing) analysis required

Experience with machine learning and data science a plus

Work closely with multiple investigators to enhance and extend their scientific capabilities into the bioinformatic space.

Experience with bash terminal data manipulation and data analysis through HPC cluster environment with a parallel file system.

Experience working in a Linux environment, R and scientific workflows

Extensive experience with standard genomics tools for high-throughput sequencing data analysis (e.g. Bowtie2, deepTools, Samtools, and the UCSC genome browser.

Excellent communication and teaching skills. Must be able to work as an individual while part of a small team.

Utilize computational tools for the analysis of epigenetic and transcriptomic datasets.

Experience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO17025, GLP)

Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience or Master’s Degree

Experience/proven ability to script and code using R, Python, and/or Bash/Unix shell

Experience installing, maintaining, and operating open-source bioinformatics software

Experience/proven ability to utilize functional annotation systems for metabolic pathway discovery and characterization

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Manages databases, conducts statistical and genomic analysis, and participates in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.

Writes custom scripts for analysis of genomic data derived from high-throughput techniques.

Designs and implements bioinformatics tools and processes in order to analyze large scale datasets.

Identifies and resolves technical issues and proposes upgrades to current software.

Develop projects and work independently on a variety of bioinformatics analysis projects.

May be involved in sequence and structural analysis, data mining, or statistical modeling.

Experience in working with large-scale data repositories and data management systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

Collect, manage and clean datasets.

Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.

Experience as a research assistant or similar.

Experience (including any graduate school) developing tools for data analysis.
