Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.

Place insulating materials over conductors and joints.

Install electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.

Maintain and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.

Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical testing instruments.

3 years of telecom lineman experience

Operate cable placing equipment, including bucket trucks and reel trailers

Must pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered

In order for the applicant to be hired as a journeyman lineman, 7 years distribution line crew experience is preferred.

Average or above average computer skills are desired.

Working knowledge of electricity and the maintenance of electrical lines is necessary.

Must currently have or possess the ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment

Must maintain weight to comply with equipment manufacturer's restrictions

Inspect, test, repair, maintain, install, replace & operate (switch) medium & low voltage power system and related equipment

Repair (splice), replace, pull and terminate underground electrical cables

Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems

Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed

Essential Job Functions & Tasks :

The successful candidate will reside within a 25-mile radius of the Greenwood Operations Center.

Must meet examining board review of skills and experience and will be required to pass testing through through Rocky Mountain Power.

Candidate must have hot stick training and experience.

2+ years experience as a Journeymen Lineman.

All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.

Operates switches, cutouts and uses grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment.

You may train and direct the work of a trainee in the trade.

There are no specific education requirements or substitution of education for experience for this position.

Obtain and maintain live-line bare hand certification (requirement for live-line bare hand crew members only).

Supplies line crew personnel with materials needed during performance of work.

Operates power hand tools, vehicles and equipment as needed.

Stocks trucks with electrical supplies, parts, and equipment.

Locates underground electric lines for third-party excavation requests.

Performs afterhours reconnects of electric customers.

Performs minor services to utility vehicles as needed such as gas, oil, and daily inspections.

Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Construction & Skilled Trades Selection System (CAST) and the Berger Aptitude for Programming Test (BAPT).

Graduate of Lineman Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience.

Performs construction and maintenance work on overhead and non-lead underground transmission and distribution lines.

Works on energized primary Transmission and Distribution equipment up to an operating voltage of 69kV using protective equipment as required.

Drives and operates T&D vehicles and equipment that requires a Commercial Driver’s License.

May be required to be transported by helicopter.

Must have the ability to manage stress and handle tense situations.

This job can be filled as a Helper 1st Year - Journeyman Lineman depending on experience.

Minimum experience required of the position:

Helper 1st Year: 0 years experience required

Apprentice 1st Year: Completion of an accredited Lineworker Training program OR prior demonstrated linework experience required

Apprentice II 2 years of experience required

Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA required.

$25,000.00 - Signing Bonus for those who qualify

$10,000.00 - Relocation lump sum for those who qualify
