Inbound Transportation Planner Jobs

Candidates with experience in supply chain management, distribution, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Transportation Management System (TMS) experience strongly preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address challenges in transportation operations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.

Proven organizational and priority-setting skills

Maintain strong relationships with carriers, facilitating efficient communication and addressing any potential service disruptions.

Under direction of senior staff, prepare fee proposals, develop work plans, and coordinate planning efforts to support project management.

Ability to utilize computer systems as a resource to effectively manage projects.

Ability to gain AICP certification within 4 years.

Must keep current in the planning specialty through continuing education.

Experience working with departments of transportation, planning or transit agencies.

Work as part of the Transportation Department to deliver a range of transportation planning and engineering projects.

Preferred 3-5 years of experience working in Logistics and Forwarding management

Manage international shipment report distribution to internal and external partners

Previous experience in working with a transportation system and/or ability to quickly develop a proficiency in such systems

Knowledge of MS Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and work seamlessly with numerous cross functional teams

Demonstrate initiative, problem solving and tactical skills

Working knowledge of Transportation Management System (TMS)

Exhibit comfortability and versatility in the management of various lead and support functions.

Take on special projects and duties as assigned by management.

Bachelor’s degree or a combination of experience and education

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and data audit/validation skills

2-5+ years of experience in:

Public engagement experience with transportation projects is a plus, but not required.

Provide technical planning expertise to a wide variety of clients which include the DOT, counties, municipalities, and metropolitan planning organizations.

Interact with clients on behalf of the company on projects including project meetings, public meetings, and workshops.

Working on projects with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, municipalities, and counties is desirable.

Wetlands delineation and waterway permitting is a plus.

Write and edit reports under the direction of task leads or project managers

Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations under the direction of task leads or project managers

Travel demand modeling experience (Cube, TransCAD, and/or VISUM)

2-4 years of professional transportation planning experience

Experience with Cube and/or TransCAD scripting

Collect, compile, review, and organize data for planning studies

Write and edit reports under the direction of task leads or project managers

Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations under the direction of task leads or project managers

2-4 years of professional transportation planning experience

Experience with Cube and/or TransCAD scripting

Strong written, verbal, analytical and problem-solving skills, experience with large data sets

Experience and knowledge of Oracle TMS (OTM), Oracle ERP, SQL, Tableau

Manage and resolve daily shipment exceptions in a timely and cost-effective manner.

1-3 years industry experience, specifically in Transportation planning, scheduling, or carrier operations

Ability to understand & manage data reports while owning performance metrics that drive business results

Experience in Fulfilment or Distribution centers and working with carriers and 3PLs.
