Overview Gym teachers are responsible for teaching physical education classes in elementary, middle, and high schools. They plan and implement activities to help students develop physical fitness, motor skills, and knowledge of sports and games. Gym teachers also help students develop social skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Detailed Job Description Gym teachers are responsible for planning and implementing physical education classes for students in elementary, middle, and high schools. They create lesson plans that focus on physical fitness, motor skills, and knowledge of sports and games. Gym teachers also help students develop social skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They may also be responsible for supervising students during physical activities, such as sports games and fitness activities. Gym teachers may also be responsible for organizing and supervising extracurricular activities, such as sports teams and clubs. Job Skills Required

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field
• Teaching certification
• Previous teaching experience
• CPR and first aid certification
Job Knowledge Gym teachers should have a thorough knowledge of physical education and fitness, as well as knowledge of sports and games. They should also have knowledge of safety procedures and be able to plan and implement activities. Job Experience Previous teaching experience is preferred for gym teachers. Experience in physical education or coaching is also beneficial.
