Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.

Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.

Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions and use family and community resources to support learning.

Teach students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving.

Assess students' developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.

Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful and interesting as well as multicultural/gender and ability fair/developmentally appropriate.

Standard 11: Teachers maintain professional standards guided by legal and ethical principles.

Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designed by the administration.

AMI certification/Diploma in Elementary Education from a MACTE recognized or affiliate - Teacher Education Program required.

Advanced degrees, or multiple credentials (e.g., Special Education, Reading, ESOL, Music, Art, etc.)

Praxis II certification and passing scores preferred

Prior experience in a Montessori) classroom environment preferred.

Prior experience working in a diverse student and adult community

Understanding and promoting the Shining Stars Montessori Academy PCS vision, mission, and goals to students, parents, and the community.

Flexible and adaptive thinking for visionary planning.

Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks for elementary age students.
