Overview Family Services Specialists are professionals who provide support and guidance to families in need. They work with families to identify and address their needs, provide resources and assistance, and help them develop strategies to improve their lives. They may work in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, community centers, and government agencies. Detailed Job Description Family Services Specialists are responsible for providing support and guidance to families in need. They work with families to identify and address their needs, provide resources and assistance, and help them develop strategies to improve their lives. They may provide individual and family counseling, coordinate services, and refer families to appropriate resources. They may also provide crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy services. Family Services Specialists may also provide education and training to families and community members. Job Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of family dynamics and dynamics of family systems
• Ability to assess family needs and develop appropriate interventions
• Knowledge of community resources and services
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of computer applications
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred
• State licensure or certification in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Experience working with families in need
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
