Effective verbal and written communications skills required.

Patrols Zoo and Zoombezi Bay grounds during open and closed hours to ensure the safety of our team members and guests.

Patrols parking lot during open and closed hours and assists with traffic control as needed.

Operates Security Checkpoint to control access to the Columbus Zoo Business Complex.

Maintains a high-profile security presence to deter criminal activity and provides good customer service to our guests and employees.

Performs screening procedures to ensure guest policy compliance.

2-3 years experience in sales, management or customer relations

1. Check with Golf Shop for any special instructions or requests.

2. Ensure players tee off at their assigned tee times.

Knowledge of recreation management, familiarity with natural and cultural resource management principles, including historical and current issues.

Knowledge of the laws, policies, and regulations under which the agency operates.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

Works in remote areas, removing logs, debris, trimming brush, repairing short sections of trail and installing water dips.

Confirm scheduling and housing arrangements with Land Manager;

Knowledge of motorized trail maintenance.

Knowledge of motorcycle maintenance and the ability to make field repairs.

Riding a motorcycle laden with 50lb of additional weight over challenging terrain;

Inspect equipment to insure proper working order;

The minimum qualifications for Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are the following:

Coursework in natural resources management, forestry, environmental science, or a related field.

Use of various hand and power tools to perform resource management, general maintenance, basic carpentry, and plumbing.

Six months of maintenance and public contact experience.

Four months or more experience in a park environment.

In lieu Medical Reimbursement of $200 /month (if not participating in City offered Medical Plan)

2-3 years experience in sales, management or customer relations

College work towards administration of justice, park management or recreation administration is desired.

Experience in dealing with the public is a necessity.

As first responders, Ranger duties and responsibilities include:

Responsible for the Sheriff's Work Furlough program on weekends.

Provides first aid for minor accidents and is familiar with water rescue operations.

Ensures the steady flow of traffic by enforcing all parking regulations.

The minimum qualifications for Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are the following:

Natural resources management and natural history.

College level coursework in natural resources management, forestry, environmental science, or a related field.

Learns the natural history of the area and applies this knowledge when performing park maintenance, operations, interpretive and protection duties.

The equivalent of one year of public contact experience interpreting rules and regulations and some experience performing parks maintenance tasks.

An Associate degree in environmental studies, forestry or a related field may substitute for six months of the required experience.

Have experience in parks administration, outdoor recreation management, or natural resource management.

Provides customer service and natural resource management services to the citizens of Larimer County.

Have knowledge of the general principles of personnel supervision and training.

POST Certification Level One Peace Officer required within one (1) year from hire date.

Possession of valid First Aid Card, CPR Certification, and Emergency Medical Responder Certification required within one (1) year from hire date.

Assist Safety Department with end of day cash bags, change requests and refill safety cash bags when Finance is unavailable.

Additional duties designated by the Ranger Supervisor/Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.

Emergency Medical Responder certification or higher.

CPR (BLS or Professional Rescuer) certification.

Prior emergency medical responder and/or security related experience preferred.

Word processing and computer skills needed.
