Overview Emergency Medicine Physician Associate (EMPA) is a healthcare professional who works in the emergency department of a hospital or other medical facility. EMPA’s provide medical care to patients in emergency situations, and are responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions. EMPA’s work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Detailed Job Description Emergency Medicine Physician Associates are responsible for providing medical care to patients in emergency situations. This includes assessing and diagnosing patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing treatment. EMPA’s also provide patient education and counseling, and may be involved in research projects. EMPA’s must be able to work independently and make decisions quickly in order to provide the best possible care to patients. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
• Ability to assess and diagnose patients
• Ability to order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Ability to provide patient education and counseling

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field
• Master’s degree in Emergency Medicine or a related field
• Certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine
• Current state license to practice medicine
• Current CPR certification

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
• Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and protocols
• Knowledge of diagnostic tests and treatments
• Knowledge of patient education and counseling

• Previous experience working in an emergency department
