Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients

Turn, position and ambulate patients

Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing

Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure

Enter daily patient record charting in computer

Classification Title: Nursing Unit Clerk

Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

Communicates and interacts with patients, visitors, and other health care professionals in an effective manner and maintains positive, cooperative relationships.

Helps to answer call lights, maintain call-light system, and relay information in a timely manner to appropriate team members.

Directs the development, planning, assessment, coordination and administration of quality improvement (QI) and compliance/risk management programs.

5 - 7 years' experience in Nursing Administration.

Mandated reporting requirements of Child Abuse

Mandated reporting requirement of Dependent Adult Abuse

Maintains compliance with all legal requirements of practice.

Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of student health center administration.

Skill to plan, organize, manage and evaluate the delivery of a variety of nursing and other services.

Knowledge of the administration and organization of nursing services; for central office: Knowledgeable of local health department administrations.

Knowledge of professional nursing theory, procedures, and techniques.

Hiring Incentive: Up to $16,000

Plans and directs the work of nursing or other professional staff; assures an adequate level of nursing care; develops staffing patterns.

Makes long-range plans and regularly reviews activities, problems and functions of services being delivered.

Nightshift, 7pm - 7am. Every third weekend and rotating holiday requirement

Minimum hourly rate: $19.00. Pay to commensurate with experience

Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator/clerk course or demonstration of equivalent competence.

Excellent customer service, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Previous health care experience preferred.

0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

Six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course

Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.

High School diploma or GED

Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Exempt From Overtime: Exempt: No

Three (3) or more years of progressive management / leadership experience required.

Five (5) or more years of nursing experience required. Maternity experience preferred.

Certification in relevant specialty or nursing administration required within three (3) years of hire.

Demonstrate strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Bachelor’s degree required. Must be a Bachelor’s in nursing if starting without a Master’s degree in nursing.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the Telesitter software

Maintains visual observation at all times

Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room

Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance

Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on unit and upon completion of shift assignment

Develops educational programs supporting translation of the research process into practical steps for nursing staff, supporting professional growth and skill development.

Provides knowledge and expertise in statistical and qualitative data analysis.

Five years of related experience required.
