Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Jobs

Attends training sessions to gain knowledge and experience.

Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Must have good customer relations and communication skills.

Performs maintenance type work (i.e., preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections, light electrical repairs, etc.) under supervision.

Assists Service Technician in heavy-duty truck repair.

Maintains a neat and orderly work area and properly handles company tools.

3+ years of diesel repair employment experience or a combination of education & experience.

1 year of diesel mechanic experience or educational equivalent

Proven prior experience working the above-mentioned vehicles required

Knowledge of Cummins Insite and Davie diagnostic tools a plus

Preference given to applicants with fabrication and metal work experience

Working knowledge of both gasoline and diesel engines

Perform preventative and routine maintenance on diesel trucks, pickup trucks, log trailers, and semi-trailers

Overtime for anything over 48 hours per week

Focus all activities first and foremost around your safety, your fellow technician safety, equipment safety, and the motoring public's safety.

Communicate with the customer (driver/operations) to determine their needs and advise of the work done

Complete repair orders, timecards, and other required documents

2+ Years of Diesel Mechanic experience preferred

Experience in preventive maintenance of Cummins & Detroit engines

Experience with AC and Electrical

Experience in both Tractor and Trailer PMs and repairs

Cross Training – supports coverage during vacations and expands your breadth of experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired

Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic

2 pairs of boots per year

$3500 referral bonus if you refer another mechanic to GFL.
