Overview A Dental Laboratory Technician is a professional who works in a dental laboratory to fabricate dental prostheses, such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and other dental appliances. They use a variety of materials and techniques to create custom-made dental prostheses that are designed to fit the patient’s mouth. Detailed Job Description Dental Laboratory Technicians are responsible for fabricating dental prostheses according to the specifications provided by dentists. They use a variety of materials, such as porcelain, metal, and acrylic, to create custom-made dental prostheses. They must be able to read and interpret dental prescriptions, as well as understand the anatomy of the mouth and jaw. They must also be able to use a variety of tools and equipment, such as grinders, lathes, and polishers, to fabricate the prostheses. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of dental anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of dental materials and techniques
• Ability to read and interpret dental prescriptions

Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a dental laboratory technician program
• Certification from the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBCDLT)

• Knowledge of dental laboratory equipment and tools

• Previous experience working in a dental laboratory
