Provides a continuous monthly supply of poles to accomplish established annual production requirements.

Monitors barkie yields to ensure cost efficiency is maintained and budget requirements are met.

Responds to and performs on special market requirements for poles and piling.

Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry plus some work experience (either in a post-college Forester role or a Forestry internship) required

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge of database management using computer software.

Creates, implements, and manages the City of McKinney’s Tree Preservation outreach and education activities through inter-city and departmental coordination.

Knowledge of principles and practices of landscape architecture, and water conservation techniques related to landscape and air and water quality.

Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to tree preservation and landscape architecture.

Skill in assembling and preparing data for report presentations.

Skill in analyzing and interpreting complex statistical data.

Prepares and conducts educational training with internal staff or external partners each quarter.

Inspect trees and recommend removing dead, dying or dangerous trees and limbs to mitigate hazards.

Inspects tree maintenance work performed by the contractor to ensure satisfactory completion.

Reviews construction plans for tree protection compliance. Reviews tree planting plans for Adopt-An-Esplanade, Adopt-A-Tree and NeighborWoods programs.

Participates in the planning, coordinating and executing of the City’s annual Arbor Day planting event.

Handles inquiries from the general public, property owners, and city officials.

Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates

Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer

You have strong problem-solving skills and pay close attention to detail.

You’re willing to learn. We provide ongoing training and assistance in obtaining industry-related certifications.

Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience in utility line clearance

Strong verbal and written communications skills
