Conduct preliminary assessments of new matter conflicts reports. Identify, analyze, categorize and summarize information concerning potential conflicts.

Communicate with the relevant attorneys regarding potential conflicts.

Assist responsible matter partners in drafting conflicts waiver request letters for review by

A professional demeanor with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with attorneys, management and staff.

Knowledge of Word and Excel, general computer and database skills. Intapp experience helpful.

Knowledge of conflict principles and a general understanding of the laws of professional responsibility.

Conflicts Department experience of 2+ years in a large law firm preferred.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team, and produce work product efficiently and accurately.

Ability to recognize a potential problem and escalate to the appropriate individual(s).

Conduct ad hoc discussions with sector desks, PMs, traders, Legal and Operations etc. to understand proposed transactions, offer compliance guidance, etc.

Experience with fixed income transactions.

Experience with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and other securities laws.

Strong communications skills and team building focus.

3+ years’ experience at a law firm, registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or regulator.

Support the ongoing development and application of the private transactions/conflicts of interest review process.

· Updating information in the conflicts management system

· 2 or more years of experience handling similar conflicts-focused responsibilities and familiarity with legal research databases

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

· Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with attorneys

· Conducting conflicts checks for potential new matters or lateral attorneys

· Reviewing and analyzing information on various internal and external databases

Performing relevant databases searches to satisfy regulatory requirements in relation to conflicts of interest

Strong analytical skills are essential.

2+ years demonstrable conflicts experience with a large regional/international law firm

Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting deadlines at speed.

Responsible to research prospective clients and other entities in internal databases and external references consistent with established department procedures

Provide clear and well written summaries of potential conflicts issues and possible resolutions to attorneys using established guidelines

Regularly consult with the Supervisor to discuss conflicts reports and responses from Attorneys requiring additional review and suggest resolutions

Follow up in a timely manner with Attorneys and Assistants to ensure resolution of conflicts issues

Legal internship or research experience

0-3 years’ experience working in a professional or legal office environment

Experience as a Conflicts Analyst in a law firm is a plus

Strong computer, research, analytical, and proofreading skills

Strong oral and written communication skills to solicit and communicate information effectively and professionally

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

1-3 years of relevant conflicts analysis experience OR

Recent college grad with strong research experience

Experience in legal industry a plus

Search internal and public database for information regarding potential conflicts for the firm

Assess if new mandates can be accepted in the context of conflicts, regulatory rules, and internal policies

Provide reports on clients regarding financial, business trends, and marketing support.

Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure, manage workloads, meet deadlines and prioritize efficiently

Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated in interactions with all colleagues throughout the Firm as well as Partners and Management

Provide all aspects of support to the Firm, Partners, and offices about conflicts management

Maintain detailed records on all aspects of the conflicts management process for internal documentation and audit purposes

Adhere to all Firm policies regarding conflicts of interest and escalate issues to Management and the Director of Responsibility, when appropriate

Ability to make effective, accurate decisions, judgement calls, and reliable recommendations with support from team members and Management, where necessary

Intermediate-level knowledge of research procedures and methodology

At least 2 years of research or Conflicts related experience (required).

Responsibilities of the Conflicts Researcher will:

Analyze and evaluate both the reference source research results and conflicts reports to determine whether conflicts-of-interest may exist with incoming parties;

Conduct research of mergers, acquisitions and potential bankruptcies using various business reference sources and record findings in the conflicts database;

Analyze conflicts issues and propose resolutions to attorneys in consultation with the Professional Responsibility Committee
