Overview City Planners are responsible for developing and implementing plans for the physical development of cities and towns. They work with local governments, developers, and community groups to create plans that meet the needs of the community while also taking into account the economic, environmental, and social impacts of development. Detailed Job Description City Planners are responsible for developing and implementing plans for the physical development of cities and towns. This includes researching and analyzing data, developing plans for land use, transportation, and infrastructure, and working with local governments, developers, and community groups to ensure that plans meet the needs of the community. City Planners must also take into account the economic, environmental, and social impacts of development when creating plans. City Planner Job Skills• Knowledge of urban planning principles and practices
• Ability to analyze data and develop plans
• Knowledge of local laws and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
City Planner Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field
• Master’s degree in urban planning or a related field preferred
• Professional certification in urban planning preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in urban planning
City Planner Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of urban planning principles and practices
• Knowledge of local laws and regulations
• Knowledge of economic, environmental, and social impacts of development
City Planner Job Experience
• At least 5 years of experience in urban planning
• Experience working with local governments, developers, and community groups
• Experience in data analysis and plan development
City Planner Job Responsibilities
• Develop and implement plans for the physical development of cities and towns
• Research and analyze data to inform plans
• Work with local governments, developers, and community groups to ensure plans meet the needs of the community

• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of plans
