Overview City Desk is a specialized position in a newsroom that focuses on local news coverage. City Desk reporters are responsible for researching, writing, and editing stories about local events, people, and places. They may also be responsible for coordinating with other departments in the newsroom, such as the photo desk and the copy desk. Detailed Job Description City Desk reporters are responsible for researching, writing, and editing stories about local events, people, and places. They must be able to work quickly and accurately to meet tight deadlines. They must also be able to work independently and as part of a team. City Desk reporters must be able to develop sources and cultivate relationships with local officials, business owners, and other community members. They must be able to write stories that are accurate, balanced, and interesting. They must also be able to work with editors to ensure that stories meet the standards of the newsroom.
