Overview A Behavioral Technician is a professional who works with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and/or behavioral issues. They provide support and assistance to individuals in order to help them reach their goals and objectives. They also provide support to families and caregivers in order to help them better understand and manage the individual’s behavior. Detailed Job Description A Behavioral Technician is responsible for providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and/or behavioral issues. This includes providing assistance with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping. They also provide support with communication, socialization, and leisure activities. In addition, they provide assistance with behavior management and crisis intervention. They also provide support to families and caregivers in order to help them better understand and manage the individual’s behavior. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and/or behavioral issues
• Ability to provide support and assistance to individuals
• Ability to provide support to families and caregivers
• Ability to provide behavior management and crisis intervention
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and/or behavioral issues
• Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or other related field
