Overview A Behavioral Health Associate is a professional who provides support to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, residential treatment centers, and outpatient clinics. Behavioral Health Associates are responsible for providing direct care to clients, as well as providing education and support to families and caregivers. Detailed Job Description A Behavioral Health Associate is responsible for providing direct care to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. This includes providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services. They also provide education and support to families and caregivers, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. Behavioral Health Associates must be able to assess clients’ needs, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues
• Ability to assess client needs and develop treatment plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with a variety of individuals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle crisis situations
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Computer proficiency
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred
• Licensure or certification in the field of mental health and/or substance abuse
• Previous experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Knowledge of individual and group counseling techniques
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Knowledge of case management techniques
Job Experience
• Previous experience working with individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues
• Previous experience providing individual and group counseling
• Previous experience providing crisis intervention
• Previous experience providing case management services
Job Responsibilities
• Provide direct care to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Monitor client progress
• Provide education and support to families and caregivers
• Collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients
• Maintain client records and documentation
• Adhere to relevant laws and regulations
