Job Description of an Auto Mechanic An auto mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all types of vehicles. They must be knowledgeable in the workings of a variety of makes and models of cars, trucks, and other motorized vehicles. Auto mechanics must be able to diagnose problems quickly and accurately, and then repair them in a timely manner. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of automotive systems and components
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
• Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Automotive technical training or certification
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift heavy objects
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

• Previous experience as an auto mechanic

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs
• Test and inspect vehicles for safety and performance
• Provide estimates for repairs and maintenance
