An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Investigate and resolve VA benefit overpayment issues.

Ensure compliance with Data Practices Act, HIPAA, and other legal requirements.

Attend appropriate meetings, training, and education to maintain professional competence.

An individual must meet the minimum qualifications as stated below to qualify for this position.

At least three years of related work experience.

Assists clients in filing claims with the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs for VA entitlements and benefits.

VA Veterans Benefits and applicable RCW's

Apply veteran relevant RCWs, SCC, and USDVA benefits and entitlements

Perform data entry, word processing and other computer related tasks

Thorough knowledge of veterans’ programs, benefits, laws and regulations;

Assists Casualty Assistance Officers with military dependent benefits & death claims; and

General knowledge of community organizations, agencies and facilities related to veterans affairs

Investigates claims of survivors or dependents; gathers supporting documentary evidence and processes claims through the Dept. of Veterans Affairs;

Provides home, nursing home & rest home visits to veterans or dependents when necessary or upon referral;

Participates in county-wide community outreach to interact with veterans;

Ability to use Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) and/or Veterans Administration software applications.

Communicates with appropriate agencies to obtain reimbursement, provide care, assess status of claims, and/or verify benefits.

Participates and presents information at various groups related to program activities and responsibilities.

Scope and application of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits and Social Security benefits.

Ability to work in both in-person and remote work environments.

Ability to utilize reference skills to locate accurate information quickly with minimal resource.
