Prepares and calibrates reagents; prepares and matches blood specimens with test request forms; enters patient identification information into computer.

Maintains laboratory equipment following manufacture's instructions; monitors performance of equipment, recalibrating and replacing worn seals electrodes, etc. as needed.

Maintains and performs quality control; reports unusual results or discrepancies to licensed technologist.

Performs venipuncture and skin puncture for the purpose of drawing blood; administers oral solutions to patients.

Performs routine laboratory assignments; prepares and stains slides; aliquots urine specimens; centrifuges blood and other specimens.

Ability to take direction and learn complex processes

Ability to work and handle all specimens for testing, including: blood, urine, sputum, stool, and tissue

Ability to act professionally in person and on the telephone

Good work ethic and good attendance is a must

Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred

Bachelor Degree in a biological or chemical science is preferred

1 - 2 years of related experience in clinical laboratory, data entry, or production

Work in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements.

Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing

Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
