Activities Assistant Director Jobs in Maryland

1 year experience working in a skill nursing facility environment preferred

Previous experience in arts/crafts and/or music highly desirable

Assist in making daily announcements for R.O., information, weather, resident’s/staff birthday, etc.

Assist with fulfilling the sensory needs of those bedridden as well as LYFE participants

Assist in planning the monthly calendar of activities and suggest ideas for future planning

Communicate with Activities director regarding daily problems, concerns and issues dealing with resident’s behavior

Prior management, supervisory, or leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation (preferred) or related field or 90-hr. course for activity professionals and continuing education.

Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate all diversified resident-centered activities as needed

Involve residents in planning individualized activities programs, oversee residents' participation, and advocate for residents regarding their needs, preferences, interests, and rights

Participate in meetings including resident council meetings, family council meetings, department head meetings, and other committee meetings as required

Maintain records and reports related to activities

Maintain the activities calendar of events to provide a variety of resident and family centered experiences

Knowledge of special needs and limitations of elderly and disabled

Knowledge of methods and techniques used to include residents and involve them in activities

Must possess patience, compassion and excellent communication skills as well as a cheerful disposition

Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation standards related to the provision of an Activities program

Lead all activity programs throughout the facility within established budgetary guidelines
