Job Description

The Hockomock Area YMCA is hiring a Youth Program Director at the Bernon Family Branch in Franklin, MA.

The Youth Program Director is responsible for developing, organizing, promoting and implementing high quality YMCA youth and adult sports programs, including: pre-school sports classes, school age sports classes and clinics, Youth Basketball, Soccer and T-Ball leagues, and Adult/Senior sports leagues and clinics. Additionally, this position serves as the Assistant Camp Director, supporting the safe operation and instruction of all camp activities. Additionally, this position supervises programming for teenagers, including Leaders Club and Youth and Government.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves working with children year round in a variety of programs and settings, and is looking for a well-rounded role that provides experience across a wide variety of departments to provide a solid foundation for their Y career.


  • Demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Demonstrated commitment to member service, with a willingness to consistently exceed expectations
  • Ability to model and teach the YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as education, recreation, sports management, park administration, youth development, etc.
  • Certified in first aid and CPR
  • Ability to work varied hours, especially during summer months and when needed for special events
  • Demonstrated communication, executive organizational skills, time management, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Competent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and social media applications
  • 3-5 years program related experience in a camp setting managing staff, working with campers, and interacting with guardians
