Youth Development Leaders implement scheduled activities and supervise a group of youth in a positive atmosphere that upholds our four core values and promotes education, healthy living, safety, creativity, anti-bullying, and inclusion among all youth. - Increases to rates are case-by-case based on experience and education relevant to to the field of youth development
- Help children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.

- Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
- Express appreciation for families’ interest in their child(s) participation in the program
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Flexible Schedule
- Supervises a group of children.
- Communicate on a daily basis to families regarding the behavior of their children positive and negative (make sure to have parents review and sign corrective behavior reports).
- Implement group activity plan as assigned and according to state licensing and YMCA guidelines.
- Insure that the program is operated in a safe and purposeful manner, insuring that all licensing and YMCA guidelines are met or exceeded.
- Understanding of and ability to apply principles of quality youth development and programming.
- Active engagement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
- Sensitivity to clientele and staff representing a variety of family, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Commitment to provide quality youth development services at all levels.
- Have a general understanding of computer technology.
- Previous experience working with school age children (may include working as a babysitter, nanny or other childcare program).
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated public relations and leadership skills in working with program parents, school personnel, children and co-workers.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
