Position Overview: Responsible for taking X-Ray exams and related duties by providing instructions, assisting patients, and positioning body parts. Performs related clerical duties.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Retrieves radiologic orders from and inputs related data into the electronic medical record.
  • Performs related administrative duties including completing necessary forms, labeling films, and film envelopes, and maintaining procedure logs.
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Escorts patients to imaging rooms provide verbal and written instructions and assists patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed. Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure patient care, safety, and comfort during scans.
  • Operates radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Positions radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to the specification of examination. Takes x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure the safety of patients and team members. Ensures radiologic equipment remains in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to Lead RT.
  • Develops and processes radiologic film.

Education Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited school for x-ray technicians with current licensure in Mississippi
Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for 6-8 hours a day; including walking, stooping, and bending
  • Proficiency in electronic records systems is preferred. Must have strong data entry skills
  • Must be able to move equipment and transfer patients
  • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
  • Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately
  • Must be able to complete tasks with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
  • Must be able to travel to various locations and work overtime hours as needed
