Job Description
Position Title: X-Ray Technologist (LMRT, RT)
Hours: Part Time; Mon, Wed all day, and Fri morning only
Pay: DOE, Hourly
Location: Denton
Job Summary: The daily tasks of a x-ray technologist require precise work and attention to detail as well as adherence to strict safety procedures. Many times, physicians will confer with technologists in the evaluation process of a patient's condition. Although x-ray technologists are required to be knowledgeable in all terminology related with radiography, anatomy, pathology, etc., a professional technologist will also possess strong interpersonal skills. A large part of the job requires giving instructions to patients who may be a bit nervous with the various radiography procedures. Technologist will give straight-forward instructions as well as foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring safety of patients during exams.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and/or department records.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Complies with HIPAA procedures.
  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Monitoring patients during exams.
  • Contributes to an overall positive work atmosphere through actions and attitude.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and answering questions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Preparing examination rooms for patient rooms.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Reporting important information to the physician.
  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
  • Maintains work area in neat and orderly manner.
  • Documenting information with computers.
  • Participates in office meetings and educational activities. Assumes responsibility and accountability for maintaining and improving radiologic knowledge and skills.
  • Positioning patients for imaging exams.
  • Preparing equipment for use as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to type 45 WPM and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Certificates and Licenses: ARRT, LMRT, R.T., and Texas State license obtained through the Texas Medical Board.
