Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide relevant nursing and support services in a primary care setting. Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiograph (x-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the physician. Participation includes interdisciplinary team, committees, program evaluations, research, education and may include the supervision of employees.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Achieve Results

  • Participates in quality strategies to evaluate compliance with standards and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure all patient charts and related documentation is maintained current and relevant at all time.
  • Stay current with knowledge, concepts, practices and skills appropriate for the clinical area assigned.
  • Improve patient outcomes, and deliver quality care within practice areas as assigned. Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform an assessment based on the patient’s diagnosis, reason for entry into system and care needs.

Operational Excellence

  • Demonstrate competency in practice and knowledge of current standards of practice. Maintains credentials and performs current radiology practice expectations within established guidelines.
  • Ensure all care and radiology practices are conducted consistent within current, relevant standards, as well as state and local laws and regulations, and related professional standards.

Relationships

  • Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, nursing staff, physicians and business office staff.
  • Contribute to team success to include the health disparities collaborative: Supports established goals and objectives.

  • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all corporate policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES

  • Attend seminars and maintain all licensure requirements for continuing education and best practices.
  • Prepare x-ray rooms to assure they are stocked with necessary supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Provide counsel, support, advice, and support to patients and their families.
  • Complete all patient charting, and ensure all patient records are current and complete.
  • Participate in quality strategies to evaluate compliance with standards and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Cleans and disinfect equipment and supplies according to established guidelines.
  • Provide direct care to patients as assigned and qualified to perform, referral forms, collections, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Participates in training, assigned duties and meetings as required for Quality Improvement/Assurance Plan, PCMH, UDS, and NCQA accreditation.
  • Demonstrate a high level of problem solving skill to better serve patients and staff.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence skills in managing difficult clients and patients.
  • Requisite skills and ability to perform certain medical tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Demonstrate a high level of skill at building relationships and customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to implement, and evaluate operational and administrative processes.
  • Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of medicine and associated charting requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Demonstrated experience developing personal practice guidelines that are dependent on knowing what the aspects of the situation look and sound like in actual patient situations.
  • Current, relevant state (TN) licensure as a R.T. (ARCRT)

Experience

  • Demonstrated success in providing clinical care and nursing support within an organization of comparable pace and complexity.
  • Demonstrated success in managing difficult patient/customer situations.
  • Demonstrated success and familiarity with tools, technology, and systems typical found within most progressive health care environments (i.e. personal computer skills, spreadsheets, word processing, patient records systems, EMR systems, etc.)
  • Significant knowledge of medical practices and procedures within in a primary care environment.
  • Demonstrated success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.

Physical/ Environmental

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., without assistance and push and pull up to 250 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to sit in one place, stand, walk, squat, knell, reach, twist, crawl and bend throughout the shift.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive coordinated motions.
  • Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.
  • Handling or administering of narcotics.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion, as well as using hands for gripping and squeezing.
  • Exposure to excessive heat or cold as required.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
