Job Description

Knowledge/Skills/Reponsibilities:

Provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in the Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for continuation or dismissal of therapy services.

Ability to instruct and manage student behavior

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Counsel and involve parents in remedial process

Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students

Communicate effectively with colleagues, students and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student.

Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student.

Assist in the selection of equipment and adaptive material.

Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.

Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.

Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy.

Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.

Effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents.

Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment

Complete Random Moments of Time documentation as required

Document and submit appropriate paperwork documenting therapy type, date and time


Qualifications:

Valid Texas license as a speech-language therapy assistant granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
