Description:

Founded in 2007, Initiate Government Solutions (IGS) a Woman Owned Small Business, specializes in healthcare information solutions with emphasis on technology spectrum. IGS partners with government and commercial clients to tackle the most challenging healthcare information technology issues including large scale implementations, business informatics, analytics, and electronic health record support.

IGS is currently recruiting for a Windows Systems Administrator to support our work with The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Assignment of Work and Travel:

This is a remote access assignment. Candidate will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):

  • AzureStack hyper converged infrastructure (AzureStack HCI) and Azure Cloud Computing and management (not required but prefered)
  • Lead the ATO process; updating stakeholders and ensuring all documentation is submitted on time
  • Patch all VINCI systems to minimize security vulnerabilities and stay in ATO compliance
  • Server health and performance monitoring tools (SCOM, SolarWinds, etc).
  • Enterprise storage administration for servers - setup/maintain Cluster Shared Volumes, MountPoints, and other storage (FC,CIFS/SMB,iSCSI).
  • File Server Resource Manager (quotas and filters).
  • Assist with build and how-to documents as needed
  • Active Directory user, group, and computer object creation (SPN creation and Kerberos Delegation experience a plus).
  • Work Helpdesk Tickets to support End Users with accomplishing tasks and/or troubleshooting issues with VINCI Environment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Administer/maintain SSL certificates for web services.
  • Adjust or migrate physical and virtual machines to the cloud as needed (with cloud team support)
  • Perform Physical and Virtual server builds as needed
  • Conduct General Windows System troubleshooting
  • Windows updates (WSUS, SCCM, and other tools).
  • Administer Microsoft HYPER-V clusters via Virtual Machine Manager and Failover Cluster Manager
  • Maintain or create group policies/ local policies required by AITC/VA security entities
  • Harden servers per VA STIG guidelines
  • Perform operating system upgrades and patching monthly or as needed (after hours operation)
  • Conduct Server performance bottleneck troubleshooting
  • Report on any system issues and document any system addition or modifications as part of the Weekly Status Report
  • Familiarity with configuration management and monitoring tools (Solarwinds, SCCM, SCOM, BigFix, etc).
  • NIC teaming, and configuration of software defined networks (HyperV switches/networks, vlan assignments, etc).
  • NIC teaming, adapter link aggregation, and network load balancing.
  • Conduct System optimization, updating and troubleshooting
  • Build and administration of HPE Servers (eg: ProLiant, Synergy), iLO, Firmware BIOS management.
Requirements:
  • Windows 2016, 2012 R2, 2008 R2, 2016 administration
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for Azure based server administration and automation
  • Experience with Azure Containers and related orchestration tools like Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline
  • Prior experience leading the ATO process
  • Experience managing Azure virtual machines, virtual networks, and related Azure cloud storage
  • 10 years of experience in a professional work environment (18 years if education requirement is not met)
  • Experience working with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates and Azure Resource Groups
  • Patching, Installing, configuring and maintaining Windows Servers; advanced troubleshooting, and advanced Windows Server communications and hosting within Azure Cloud Environments

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  • MCP or other Microsoft Certification highly desired
  • Previous, experience supporting the VA
  • Current VA Public Trust
  • Prior, successful experience working in a remote environment

Compensation: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
