Job Description

What The Role Is

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Wind Site Manager for South Trent Wind Farm will direct all plant operations for maintenance and repair. Some of the responsibilities will include developing a site operation plan, managing site budget, managing site personnel & contractors, and participation in Clearway fleet-wide initiatives

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create an annual operating plan and provide input on an annual budget
  • Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair substation and collection system malfunctions, when needed
  • Coordinate efforts and schedule of the on-site turbine technicians
  • Primary contact for resolution in performance and land utilization matters
  • Perform Operation and switching of high voltage equipment using approved switching orders
  • Responsible to communicate site issues with internal departments (IT, Engineering Human resources, etc..) provide follow up as needed
  • Ability to implement and train direct reports on all Clearway programs and procedures
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Senior Management
  • Local point of contact for landowners, local authorities, and state agencies regarding environmental and contractual concerns involving the site
  • Participate in contract negotiations with sub-contractors and other vendors for parts and services required for wind power installations for site
  • Accountable for the safe and compliant day-to-day operation of Clearway wind farm
  • Assist in SCADA functions such as data editing, report creation, and local SCADA problem resolutions
  • Set direction and measure operational performance of site staff and contractors
  • Responsible for monitoring, upkeep, and reporting of plant performance
  • Monitor wind conditions, SCADA reports, turbine performance, maintenance schedules, and staff performance on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

What You'll Bring

  • Proficiency in using project management software, MS Project preferred
  • Ability to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments, including confined spaces
  • Ability to meet requirements of Clearway’s Qualified Electrical Worker program.
  • Be able to respond to plant outages on a 24/7 schedule
  • Ability to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires.
  • Ability to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet. Job and able to stand outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine
  • In-depth knowledge of NERC standards and other utility regulatory requirements, power purchase contracts, operations management, financial reporting.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work
  • Ability to travel, including overnight, as required
  • Occasional overnight trips required (approx. 10%)
  • Possess the necessary skills to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair substation and collection system malfunctions
  • Demonstrated understanding of the technical and business facets of a wind site
  • Ability to safely handle and work with objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

What Would Be Nice

  • High School diploma is required
  • Minimum of 3 years managing employees, contractors, and projects
  • Technical training in wind plant operations is preferred
  • Possess and valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 7 years in the wind or power generation
  • A 4-year degree in business, engineering, or related field is preferred
  • Experience with operations financial management, forecasting and controls.
