STUDY BACKGROUND: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) established the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) in 1991 to address the most common causes of death, disability and impaired quality of life in postmenopausal women. The WHI is one of the largest U.S. prevention studies of its kind and it is currently in its third extension. The WHI Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC), located at Fred Hutchinson, is responsible for study implementation and coordination of statistical, epidemiologic, nutritional and clinical aspects of the WHI and is responsible for data collection, management and analysis.


The Program Assistant I works independently and in collaboration with all Units in WHI to assist in accomplishing the study goals described above. The primary responsibilities of the position are general unit-wide administrative tasks.


Responsibilities


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


The incumbent works under general supervision. Uses judgment in carrying-out routine responsibilities within the framework of department/study policies and procedures.


Job Duties


May perform some or all of the following responsibilities:


  • Serve as a department/study liaison, referring non-routine issues to supervisor.
  • Carry-out routine special assignments or projects.
  • Perform clerical duties to include: organizing mass mailings, drafting and word processing correspondence and reports, proofreading materials, data entry, photocopying, scanning and webpage editing.
  • Assist supervisor in the daily implementation of department and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Skills necessary generally will include: organizational skills, general office skills (i.e. typing, filing, phone skills), word processing/computer skills, and written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or special skills may be required based on departmental needs.
  • One year experience in program specialty or a related field.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.53 to $29.23 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
