Ministry Description:
The Kansas State Wesley Foundation is the United Methodist campus ministry at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
The ideal candidate for this full-time ministry role would be passionate about ministry with college age students, helping them grow through spiritual development opportunities including but not limited to discussions, weekly gatherings, service events, leadership development and university engagement. Position Description:
The Kansas State United Methodist Campus Minister provides leadership in pastoral ministry with a focus on areas of outreach and service. The ideal candidate is one that is energized to equip young adults, develop relationships, and lead students to a deeper understanding of God’s grace in their lives.
Minimum Requirements:
A servant leader who feels called to ministry with college students and who possesses gifts for relationship-building, organizational leadership, pastoral care and student discipleship.

Salary and Benefits:
Compensation will range as a base salary $45,000, housing allowance of $18,000 and accountable reimbursements of $4,800 for travel and continuing education. If in seminary, this position might have the opportunity to meet field education requirements. Health insurance, vision and dental are available. Moving expenses reimbursed.

I. Ministry Leadership
Working with K-State Wesley staff, students, board members and others to clarify and develop passion for the ministry of Wesley and Kansas State University. Helping students move closer to each other and closer to Jesus Christ. Examples of activities, but not limited to:
- Preach at the Tuesday night contemporary worship service and prayers at the Sunday night meal.
- Connect with social media for devotion to students.
- Draw upon Scripture for teaching and grounding.
- Work with Wesley at Kansas State Board of Directors and the Wesley Foundation board
- Offering vision and support to the 30-bed residential community
- Retreats in the Fall and Spring semesters
- Communicate vision of Wesley at Kansas State to greater conference area
- Utilize the commercial kitchen for food ministry to campus.
- Partner with organizations on the Kansas State University campus
II. Staff Development
With the local board, hiring, supervising, training, overseeing, coordinating, and pastoring the Wesley at Kansas State staff. There are currently: Administrative Assistant part-time, a male resident assistant, a female resident assistant and a property caretaker. We have the potential of 10 ICE Fellows (10 hours per week) who live at the campus ministry building. Examples of activities, but not limited to:
- Regular meetings for with resident life and intern staff
- Monthly leadership team meetings
- Individual or team meetings to develop ministry programs.
- Take students to workshops and training events.
- One-on-one pastoral support for staff
III. Evangelism
Working with active Wesley at Kansas State students to seek out those who are not currently involved and invite them to grow in their faith through Wesley at K-State. Examples of activities, but not limited to:
- Connect with new students, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
- Provide a booth during new student orientation, activity fairs and Open Houses
- Provide email and social media updates.
- Develop a culture of innovation.
- Recruiting student residents to the 30-bed residential community
IV. Connectional Presence
Establishing a link between the campus ministry and the United Methodist Church. Examples of activities, but not limited to:
- Teach United Methodist Doctrine and Theology
- Connect with the three United Methodist Churches and churches throughout the Great Plains Conference.
- Participate in regional events and other national student events such as Next and Exploration
- Participate on the Great Plains United Methodist Campus Ministry board.
V. Administration
Managing the facilities, finances, and day-to-day details of the program. Examples of activities, but not limited to:
- Regular communication with the Wesley at Kansas State Board Chair
- Quarterly Wesley at K-State board meetings and committee meetings as scheduled.
- Maintain and regularly update the website and social media.
Qualifications:
- The Wesley at K-State Campus Minister would be:
- A United Methodist – clergy or lay.
- A passion for campus ministry and for ministry with college-aged persons
- Demonstrated leadership capacity.
- Ability to work with diverse communities.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Mentoring skills for developing the spiritual lives of students.
- Concern for prophetic work that is relevant to the culture in which the students live.
