There are over 400 sailings each day on 9 ferry routes across Puget Sound and through the San Juan Islands, including an international route to Sidney, British Columbia.
The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a Welder/Shipfitter Apprentice to perform all work in accordance with blueprints, plans and knowledge of various codes, welding processes, and metallurgy.
What to Expect
This position responds to equipment failures around the clock to sustain service reliability.
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you/the Welder/Shipfitter Apprentice will:

• Repair or fabricate from new steel, Stainless steel, aluminum and copper-nickel parts and equipment.
• Lay out, fit up, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components.
• Setting up work areas with welding leads, tools, and materials.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

• Must currently be enrolled in an approved apprenticeship program with Boilermakers Local 104.
