Sweetwater, the nation's #1 online retailer of pro audio equipment and music instruments is seeking to hire a Weekend Distribution Center Manager for our Glendale, Arizona location. This person will Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day management of a distribution department. Manage daily activities and develop short and long-term strategic planning of the operations to ensure facility and organization goals and objectives are achieved. Performs other related duties, special projects or assignments as required. Please note this role is in a start-up Distribution Center and will require the manager to wear many hats during the initial ramp. Weekend shift will run Saturday, Sunday plus one additional day, from 6AM-6PM.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for ensuring that departments meet or exceed performance requirements in the areas of safety, operational performance, cost control, quality and employee engagement.
  • Reviews activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for the management of the Distribution Center and all that it entails: Ensuring we meet or exceed our goals and targets. Coach and counsel direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain a work culture that is successful and committed to a superior customer experience.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, reliability, customer service and execution to plan.
  • Responsible for generating reports to management.
  • Identify / develop / implement short and long-term strategies which enhance profitability, productivity, efficiency, safety and employee engagement.
  • Responsible for driving and managing the change associated with organizational growth.
  • Continually analyze work processes to identify optimization opportunities and implement process improvements.
  • Provides a safe work environment for the team and ensures compliance.
  • Ability to perform presentations to senior management when needed.


Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Interpersonal competencies to include: integrity and trust, adaptability, leadership, motivation ability, coaching and mentoring skills, and initiative. Proactive, responsive, detail-oriented and gets things done.
  • Business and intellectual competencies to include: industry understanding of warehouse management, strategic and tactical planning skill, problem analysis skill, staff development skill, written and oral communication skill, and creativity.
  • Must possess exceptional leadership, mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan and execute strategies.
  • Experience leading teams of 30+ employees.
  • Ability to solve problems as well as recognize issues and deal with them directly
  • Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of functional groups and key stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays (based on business needs).
  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and manage several processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
  • Deep passion for process improvement, innovation, execution, and customer service.


Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly bend, lift, stretch and reach both below the waist and above the head.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 49 lbs.
  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
  • Walk in/and around the warehouse with great frequency.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around facility or department
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment.
  • May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision
