Water Instrument Technician Jobs

To be successful in this role you must bring:

• The Process Control Instrumentation Specialist is a self-starter, and communicates well within the group, department and customers.
• Fundamental knowledge of SCADA systems, systems integration and networking, PLC programming (Scadapack, ABM), program language, and debugging tools; possess the knowledge and skills to operate/maintain and troubleshoot these systems.
• At least three years’ experience in electronic sensory and control systems as utilized in water utilities, with the equipment described above.
• The Specialist is capable of application design, aware of technology development and capable of providing and presenting ideas for operational improvements.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent required and five years’ experience performing the characteristic duties described at the Process Control Instrumentation Technician level or combination of relevant education and experience.

• Valid California noncommercial Class C drivers license.
• Have and maintain California DWR (Department of Water Resources) certificate G2 Water Distribution Operator certificate or ability and commitment to obtain it withing 12 months of hire.
• California DWR (Department of Water Resources) Certificate G2 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate preferred.
• Ability to Obtain and maintain within 24 months the AWWA (American Water Works Association) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certificate.
• Controls Systems Technician II level or equivalent certification
• AWWA Cross Connection Control Inspector certificate preferred.

Physical Requirements*:

• Constantly utilizing light/ fine grasping.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a California Noncommercial Class C Drivers License.
• Must be physically able to move manhole covers, operate valves and access trenches and manholes.
• Occasionally perform seated work, kneel/crawl/twist/bend/stoop/ squat/reach work above shoulders.
• Freequently stand/walk, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21- 40 pounds.
• Perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and sort file paperwork or parts.
• Must be able to wear a respirator and pass annual function medical and auditory testing, fitness testing and training.
• Rarely climb, lift/carry/pull objects up to 40 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Able to work any day of the week and at all hours to cover emergencies. Able to work overtime, evenings, and weekends, including holidays, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
• Required to wear appropriate issued uniform.
• Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• May work in confined spaces or at heights from 4- 10. Feet.
• Maybe exposed to noise greater than 80db TWA , biohazards, asbestos, and heavy metals.

The expected pay range for this position is $52.13 (Step 1) - $63.12 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
