Description

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a full time Wastewater Operator to operate WWTPs across Louisiana and Mississippi. Qualified candidates must possess a Class IV operator’s license or have the ability to obtain it within six months.

Are you ready to inspire, engage and deliver? For almost 50 years Waggoner has delivered sound results through a culture of integrity, service and creativity to benefit our clients. If you are tired of hearing “we’ve always done it this way”; if you have a work hard/play hard attitude; and if you enjoy working with a vast team of professionals across various disciplines, you will fit right into our culture.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

  • Thoroughly investigate and resolve all instances of non-compliance.
  • Shall have the ability to effectively train subordinates in the technical and non-technical aspects of the duties assigned to them.

  • Shall perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must work with regulatory agencies to ensure continued compliance.
  • Shall understand ethical management principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of tools and equipment to be used by personnel being supervised.
  • Responsible for understanding and implementing approved water analytical techniques.
  • Shall be available to respond to emergency situations involving adverse impacts to the wastewater treatment process.
  • Daily operations include all matters related to Wastewater Treatment Plant operations, maintenance, water and chemical analysis, regulatory compliance reporting, safety, grounds maintenance, implementation and execution of proactive operation and maintenance schedules, planning for capital improvement projects, and other duties as required to ensure continued operation of the WWTP to the highest quality standards and to comply with NPDES requirements.
  • Read, understand, and implement federal, state or local environmental regulations to ensure compliance with all permits issued by federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Shall be required to be on 24-hour call.
  • Shall have thorough knowledge of safety requirements with the ability to enforce them.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to perform and/or supervise assigned tasks.

What you'll need

  • Aptitude to calibrate and use the following instruments – pH meter, oxygen meter, chlorine analyzer, various tape measures, conversion charts (decimal to fraction, fraction to decimal), overhead scale, flow meters, oxygen reduction potential meters (ORP), etc.
  • Shall have the ability to read and interpret documents, regulatory requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience.
  • Reasoning abilities shall include the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
  • Shall have a thorough knowledge of all safety requirements with the ability and willingness to enforce them.
  • Shall have valid State Class IV Certifications in both Wastewater Treatment and Collections.
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • Applicable college degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • This classification also requires the individual to hold such certificates or licenses as may be required by federal, state, or local governments. Employee shall obtain the required number of continuing education credit hours for each two (2) year cycle to remain properly certified by the Louisiana and Mississippi Departments of Environmental Quality.
  • Individuals must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely and must possess a valid driver’s license.
