Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
:
Nikon Metrology is seeking an initiative-taking Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Specialist who will be responsible for processing inbound and outbound shipments.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  • Completing and maintaining required computer recordkeeping and filing in accordance to company procedures.
  • Perform other duties and activities as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily.
  • Ensuring specifications, quality and quantity of orders are correct.
  • Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using computer.
  • Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Verifying the quality and accuracy of incoming orders.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Verify accuracy of orders picked.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons as per customer instructions or company procedures.
  • Off load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Update and maintain records on all goods movement on computer system.
  • Examines incoming shipments, record and reject damaged goods, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Enters incoming shipments in computer system and labels goods per procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  • Pack’s goods into boxes, containers, crates, and pallets as required minimizing potential damage during transit. Uses spacers, fillers and packing material to ensure goods are safe and secure.
  • Verifying stock and identifying any discrepancies.
  • Read and fill picking request for stock, equipment, tools, and supplies. Picks stock from shelves and other designated locations.
  • Drive to various locations to deliver or pick-up materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, information from customer order, routes, and rates.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  • Picking, packing, and loading orders for shipment.
  • Load delivery truck by hand or by use of mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects and report any damage/defect.
ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material.
  • Occasional extra hours and weekend hours as requested by supervisor.
  • Working in other areas of the maintenance department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized.
  • Requisition additional supplies from purchasing department as needed.
  • Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL
  • Forklift experience plus certification or ability to get certification
  • 4-7 years’ experience working in a warehouse or distribution center.
DESIRABLE
  • Previous experience with tariffs and/or current import/export regulation is a plus.
COMPETENCIES

A) FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
  • Computer skills. (Including Outlook, Excel)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, knowledge of Navision a plus.
  • Ability to work in team environments.
  • Must exhibit promptness and attention to detail.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May frequently (40% to 70% of the time) lift or move materials with an average weight of 25lbs to 50lbs.
  • May periodically lift or move materials weighing over fifty pounds with assistance.
