Summary:
Metal Sales is the nation's largest manufacturer of metal roofing and building systems with 21 locations across America. Our Anchorage, AK branch has an opening on our shipping team for Shipping Lead & Loader.
This is a permanent full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package and competitive pay!
Starting hourly pay at $18.00 depending on experience.
Regular hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Overtime including working on weekends may be required.
This position is responsible for the day to day shipping of materials and working the customer will call area. You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating packaging and shipping, including the loading/unloading of both commercial and Metal Sales trucks.
You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Resolving customer inquiries and inventory issues through research and cycle counts
- Visually inspecting trailer before loading and reporting anything unusual
- Coordinating and controlling all aspects of the shipping area, including safely operating a forklift to load Metal Sales multi-stop trucks and customer will calls as they come in
- Helping to maintain product quality and inventory control accuracy
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment and assisting in other departments as needed
Job Requirements:
The most qualified candidates will have:
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic math skills, including ability to read a tape measure
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to read, hear, talk, drive lift trucks, wear PPE, and lift up to 45 lbs. repetitively
- Noise level is moderate to loud
- Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in the winter and summer months
- Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit approximately 7 ½ hours minimum per work shift
