Summary

This position performs a variety of material handling, material movement, inventory and warehousing functions.

Essential Function/Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty satisfactorily. Other duties/functions may be added or assigned.

Material Handling Equipment

• Performs routine pre-operational check of forklifts daily and clean as needed in accordance with checklist
• Must be trained and licensed to operate forklifts and other load-bearing devices.
• Operates forklift and other load-bearing devices to load and unload trucks, move, convey, transport or locate product and other materials within the facility.
• Acquires and maintains skill certifications in order to properly use forklift, reach truck, and electric pallet jacks. Also able to use tilt table, weight scale, battery exchange, stretch wrap or other equipment.

Warehousing Activities

• Provide and maintain an appropriate quantity of required raw materials to production.
• Locates and distributes materials to departments as directed.
• Record, weigh and relocate all unused and/or rejected raw material and scrap.
• Immediately reports any damage, which occurs to the supervisor, including damage to raw materials and finished product.

Inventory

• Assists in taking accurate periodic physical inventory.
• Conducts inventory cycle counts as directed.
• Arranges all raw material and finished product in the warehouse in an orderly fashion, according to warehouse location plan to allow for first in first out (FIFO) selection.

Administration

• Properly document all material movements.
• Using hand-held and tethered data collection devices, compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, orders or other distribution documents.
• Accurately prepares, inputs and processes various reports, paperwork or other administrative duties in a timely manner ether manually or with computer using programs such as TMM, Word, Excel and e-mail.

Receiving

• Maintains a good attendance record.
• Stores received goods in storage rack utilizing locator system.
• Generally willing to work overtime.
• Practices safe work habits and follow general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE). Safely operates forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Responsible for notifying the purchaser that received goods have arrived and are in location for pick up.
• Practices good housekeeping including maintaining clutter free work area and general cleaning. Follows SQF standards.
• Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and reports deficiencies or problems to supervisor or purchasing department.

Product Safety and Quality

• Follows Product Safety and Quality standards
• Follows FDA GMP’s in regards to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee

Safety

• Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning; follows FDA product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements
• Ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained
• Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE)

Miscellaneous

• Maintains a good attendance record.

• Language - In work related situations must be able to take direction and communicate as well as read and understand written documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
• Education and/or Experience - High school education or GED; and one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to operate both electric forklifts, electric pallet jacks, & reach trucks safely. Must be able to do cycle counts and understand inventory control. Ability to work with computers or computer based equipment.
• Reasoning Ability - Able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Must pay attention to detail
• Math - Able to perform simple addition and subtraction.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Physical activities include lifting, reaching, bending and twisting as well as carrying items up to 50 lbs. approximately 45 feet.
• Routinely required lifting is up to 50 lbs and range varies from floor height to 6 feet high. This activity is combined with bending, twisting and high far reaching. Frequency of these activities varies from occasional to frequently.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (color coded regrind labels), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Added requirements are ability to work under pressure timing tasks to keep up with operational needs.
• In a 12-hour shift while performing this job, the employee may sit, stand or walk or sit.
