Manage all operating and distribution functions including Inventory, Shipping and Receiving, Safety and Cleanliness, Manufacturing and Staffing


Job Summary


This position works closely with Sr. Management to support overall business operations. The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse and business operations to ensure efficient and effective accounting and movement of goods. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage teams to ensure effective warehouse operations. This essential leadership position will also assist with many cross-functional company objectives.

Inventory
  • Ensure returns and loose inventory are put away and not laying around. Make sure items are complete and in saleable condition.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure that inventory levels are optimized
  • Interact with sales and service departments to coordinate inventory adjustments on site and in the system
  • Re-binning parts and recording the new bins in the system
  • Accountable for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing inventory count processes and taking corrective action to guard against inventory consistencies in the future
  • Analyze inventory levels and usage to identify trends and optimize inventory bin locations and levels to minimize waste and reduce costs
  • Increase inventory turns and liquidate dead or slow moving stock
  • Drive improvement for all inventory management processes
  • Recommend alternative stocking programs such as vendor managed inventory and consignment - i.e. which items may drop ship as opposed to stock and why
  • Inventory variance benchmarks created and evaluated for performance evaluation.
  • Prepare and distribute reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and other key metrics to inform management decisions
  • Implement metrics to identify areas for improvement, implement changes and track improvement
  • Partner with purchasing to ensure inventory levels are optimized for all products
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement support technology to improve operations
  • Develop and implement inventory management procedures, including cycle counts, order processing management, and inventory reconciliation processes to ensure accurate inventory levels
  • Proactively identify alternate sources of supply (general vs. OEM) to reduce operating cost
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure efficient storage and flow of goods
  • Manage and maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, stock checks, and annual physical inventory counts
  • Responsible for arranging stock for better access and picking routes


Shipping and Receiving
  • Reduce or eliminate labor cost of rolling out damaged goods
  • Picking and Packing time standards and benchmarks created and evaluated for performance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and resolve any issues that may arise. This includes shorts and overages
  • Manage and improve shipping cost-to-revenue ratios
  • Receive, count and put away inventory in a timely basis. All inventory to be assigned a bin before giving to purchasing to receive
  • Manage shipping material cost
  • Returns and warranty processing and disposition
  • Manage shipping and receiving functions, including freight and logistics coordination, carrier selection, and tracking of orders to ensure timely shipping and delivery


Safety and Cleanliness


  • Make sure all incidents are reported as required using VARCo incident report
  • Demonstrate responsibility and compliance with all safety and quality policies and standards
  • Alert management and take corrective action regarding critical or potentially critical safety issues
  • Report progress on a monthly basis
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including certification of picker and forklift operations and the handling and storage of hazardous materials
  • Keep warehouse and all aisles clean, to include easy access to all racks
  • Enforce safety standards and use of issued safety equipment
  • Meet or exceed OHSA standards through training and implementation of those standards
  • Implement 5S program


Manufacturing


  • Evaluate, recommend and implement solutions that will improve operations
  • Create and monitor business metrics to maximize efficiencies for the manufacturing of products
  • Responsible for the scheduling and overall supervision and coordination of associates and activities
  • Establish quality control initiatives to climate manufacturing defects and errors
  • Work with other departments to ensure daily targets and quality standards are achieved


Staffing


  • Implement an effective training program for all operational positions and roles
  • Cultivate team spirit and promote inter-departmental cooperation
  • Ensure employees adhere to standard operating procedures and processes as well as work with management to develop and implement process that will improve efficiency in all departments
  • Manage all direct reports through regular feedback and goal setting for each of your functional areas of responsibility
  • Identify staffing needs and hire personnel to achieve those needs within budget targets
  • Training, oversight, and evaluation of employees to ensure successful job performance
  • Train continuous improvement in productivity, quality and safety
  • Assist other departments in cross-functional training


Qualifications

  • Quick thinking, able to react and use good judgment
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures
  • Willingness to increase job knowledge through continuing education and support from industry experts and consultants
  • Available for occasional travel
  • Employee and Customer first approach
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Bi-lingual communications skills (English and Spanish)
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with inventory, shipping, receiving, and manufacturing management
  • All-encompassing warehouse knowledge
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures
  • Must pay close attention to detail and be committed to "getting it right the first time"
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment (forklift, picker, pallet jack, etc.)
  • Capable of heavy lifting of up to 70 pounds is required
