Warehouse Operations Assistant Jobs

Job Summary

Coordinate and facilitate moving of university property to support students, faculty and staff requirements, and for special events and functions. Provides primary operational support to Moving and Surplus Property Services by receiving, inspecting, sorting, storage and delivery of goods and equipment processed through the Moving and Surplus Property. Provides support for the University Warehouse Services and special warehouse projects.

Required Qualifications

Experience in moving and use of moving equipment such as two-wheeled dollies, four-wheeled dollies, pallet jacks, and packing materials. Experience with lifting a minimum of 50 pounds frequently to carry loads up and down steps, with occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 100 pounds. Experience with use of hand tools to assist with assembly and disassembly of items. Ability to operate vans and box truck equipped with hydraulic tailgate lift. Ability to interact in a positive manner with the campus community and fellow employees in a diverse environment. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Virginia Motor Vehicle Operators License. Able to write and communicate orally. Able to understand and interpret written instructions and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education setting. Working knowledge of warehouse operations, basic mathematical computation skills. Experience/knowledge of surplus property operations.
