Job Summary


The Vice President of Supply Chain Transformation & Product Supply is a senior level leadership role that reports direct to the EVP of Supply Chain at Medifast. This position is accountable for deliverables supporting Medifast’s Mid-Cap company long term vision and goals. This role has (4) critical key areas of strategic responsibilities that deliver Operational Excellence as a fundamental Supply Chain standard.
  • $6MM in sustaining capital; $40MM+ strategic capital if required for expansion needs
  • Owings Mills and (10) co-manufacturing supplier
  • 700MM units/year of theoretical network manufacturing capacity
  • $300MM annualized spend across both co-man operations and OM expense

Employee and food safety compliance while adhering to environmental standards is a critical responsibility of this role.


Ownership of the multi-year strategic roadmap, alignment, and deployment of large-scale, cross functional supply chain initiatives to scale and support more Coaches and Clients and the supply of OPTAVIA and Medifast branded finished goods produced across our manufacturing network.


This role has P&L ownership; ie COGS, cost management, gross & operating margin with focus on LEAN continuous improvements methodologies and cost savings.


Fulfillment and product supply technical support responsibilities include identifying and implement equipment capabilities, standards and leading capital projects that delivers processes that consistently meets product specifications and Coach and Client experiences.


The role oversees the development of project plans, governance, meeting rhythms, policies and practices that deliver year-on-year sustainable business results in supply chain. Leadership competencies/skills consistently demonstrated will be to drives root cause analysis and strategic problem solving, prioritizes continuous improvement opportunities, re-engineers supply chain processes, defines quantifiable and measurable outcomes.


Job Responsibilities


  • Ensures all work is cross-functional and effective by securing the right teams, skills and establishing ways of working across the transformation and product supply strategic vision and with other business initiatives as needed.
  • Business/financial acumen and competencies must be consistently demonstrated in this role working with the Supply Chain EVP, gaining sponsorship, alignment and approval of projects and objectives.
  • Responsible for creating the Supply Chain Transformation multi-year roadmap that supports long-term mid-cap company goals. Gain stakeholder alignment and implement complex strategic initiatives year-on-year to meet our SC and business vision.
  • This role has overall responsibilities for our co-man supplier partnerships and strategy execution focused in (4) key areas; quality/food safety, customer service/schedule attainment, innovation & strategic cost with the ability to scale to support business growth; ie more Coaches and Clients.
  • Drives LEAN Continuous Improvement capabilities, strategies and tools used to sustain consistent success across accountability areas in this role. Must cultivate a skill-based culture that problems solves and demonstrates a high level of capability at both the exempt and non-exempt levels.
  • Performance KPIs; ie safety, quality, customer service, cost, productivity, leadership and organizational development. Success defined by year-on-year results, using a continuous improvement methodology and mindset.
  • Theme Lead for Org and Ops pillar of the Adaptive Planning enterprise process.
  • Develop and implement employee workplace & end-user food safety network processes, standards and initiatives at our Owings Mills, MDC & HDG sites with focus on minimizing injuries, food safety and environmental non-compliance, risk or losses. Implement quality, sanitation and environmental processes that meet required GMP and regulatory certifications.
  • The role drives organizational change, succession planning, cultivates relationships and builds effective teams to achieve common goals, driving engagement and creating a climate where the teams are motivated to do their best.
  • Product supply senior leader having manufacturing responsibilities for 75 skus across our bars, snacks and powder finished product portfolio produced at our Owings Mills plant and (10) co-manufacturing suppliers as a function of Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrates a deep knowledge of Supply Chain processes and capabilities in order to lead commercialization and technology driven strategies effectively.
  • Owns budgets & P&L financials of areas of responsibility and ensures the teams are tracking to key milestones and projects are meeting deliverables.


Scope


This senior leadership position is accountable for the Medifast Supply Chain Transformation multi-year plan as the company grows to becoming a mid-cap company as well as team and food safety, quality control, compliance, engineering, commercialization support and cost-effective sourcing of manufactured finished goods having product supply/manufacturing as well.


This role requires strong understanding of supply chain, manufacturing processes and industry-leading practices, excellent cross-functional leadership capabilities, success in influencing a wide spectrum of stakeholders, ability to lead and develop teams with a continuous improvement mindset and strong people management skills that not only foster an environment of team success, but individual accomplishments as well.


Cross functional engagement and stakeholder alignment is critical to success in this role.


Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities


  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%.
  • Prior experience in Supply Chain Transformation in a leading role. Experienced people manager with a strong reputation for leading, mentoring and developing teams.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience across progressive roles in manufacturing and/or supply chain direct leadership, preferably in food and beverage and/or consumer products that support companies that are fully or semi-vertically integrated.
  • Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems; ie SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or Red Prairie or other software a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Supply Chain or Business related function
  • Six Sigma certification (Black Belt, Green Belt) preferred.
  • Proven ability to foster a collaborative work environment across the supply chain and entire organization.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing, strategy deployment and tools, value stream mapping, process workflows and associated documentation. Expert leader with a proven track record of building and managing high performance teams.
