What you’ll do


The Vice President Plant Engineering is responsible for the production planning of all trades (i.e. Press/Body/Paint‐Shop, Assembly, Finish etc.). The Vice President will report to the Chief Production Officer.


Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:


  • Ensuring compliance with standard processes in all manufacturing departments
  • Responsible for overall manufacturing strategy including supplier localization, manufacturing depth and new technology implementation
  • Be a Scout ambassador by positively representing the company and culture
  • Responsible for the fulfillment of ergonomic, work safety, environmental protection, and fire protection requirements in the planning process
  • Design, hire, and develop high‐performing Plant Engineering (Serial Planning) team
  • Prioritize projects to ensure that established deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Responsible for Body‐Shop, Paint‐Shop, Assembly‐Shop and Electrical planning
  • Lead of the planning of new series, model changes, realization of PV, 0‐series and production ramp‐up
  • Guide all departments to develop standardized equipment specifications to include the purchase of required to make the production area fully operational
  • Responsible for in‐house material flow strategy including process development, equipment design, continuous improvements and daily changes
  • Guide all teams in productivity and innovation to find creative solutions to manufacturing issues
  • Lead the development and implementation of planning strategies to meet overall plant KPIs
  • Responsible for the investment planning for new series, model changes, base load and structure of Body‐Shop, Paint‐Shop and Assembly‐Shop
  • Responsible for evaluation and planning realization of product and process changes
  • Collaborate across company leadership and present to the Board as required
  • Provide oversight to team for ergonomic improvement opportunities
  • Build effective infrastructure and processes for the Serial Planning
  • Responsible for technical aspects of process equipment
  • Guide all departments to develop standardized equipment specifications to include the purchase of required to make the production area fully operational
  • Investigate new model strategies to provide long‐term objectives for plant model mix and manufacturing synergies
  • Monitoring all technical related issues for safety, quality, cost and productivity for all manufacturing departments


Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in greater Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related fields
  • 15+ years of professional experience in automotive engineering and production
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • 10+ years of progressive experience building and managing teams
  • Skillful at organizational navigation and cross‐functional collaboration at all levels

Pay Transparency


This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
