Position Summary:

Vice President Health Plan Sales performs functions and establishes strong business relationships with entities that are, or are interested in being, a Pharmacy Benefit Manager, including interaction with Healthcare Consultants/Brokers as directed. Responsible for selling, and assisting in the implementation and management of, Pharmacy Technology Solutions, Adjudication and Business Intelligence to entities that require technology solutions and/or other Prescription Benefits Management (PBM) Solutions that may include taking advantage of in-sourcing solutions such as Mail Order Pharmacy Services, Specialty Pharmacy Services, Clinical Programs, as well as any other opportunities and initiatives. The Vice President Health Plan Sales will have responsibility for all phases of the sales process including prospecting, demos, pricing, and any in person or online presentations, and through to the final contract.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Secure new business in accordance with an annual sales plan and annual targets.
  • Report sales activity to management as required.
  • Work with other Corporate Divisions on lead generation and follow up.
  • Complete sales at profitable rates and move prospects effectively into implementation.
  • Maintain and continue to enhance a complete and up-to-date database of prospects, targets, and contacts; document sales activities using the tools within Salesforce.
  • Maintain strong familiarity with Technology trends and competition, PBM competition, particularly any new competitive issues and products / services.
  • Establish a network of sales contacts to provide the organization with a steady stream of sales opportunities and follow-up completely, accurately, and timely utilizing Salesforce.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Interaction with key influencers as needed which may include Brokers/Consultants as directed.
  • Maintain close contact with internal partners such as Service Delivery, Account Management, Finance, Legal, Implementation and Operations, to help facilitate the implementation process and management of new sold client as needed.
  • Participate in and perform analysis of opportunities, potential client needs and objectives that fit corporate goals and objectives.
  • Delivery of Corporate Business Model and Value Proposition to prospects via phone call, email, conferences, speaking engagements, demos, and presentations.
  • Coordinate product/service demonstrations that align with the specific opportunity.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Generate and identify prospects in the defined selling vertical and secure meetings (face to face, zoom meetings, phone calls, etc. as required) with key decision makers—including CEOs, CFOs, CTOs, Presidents, Chief Pharmacy Officers, and other high ranking C level executives.
  • Meet established sales goals as identified by EVP of New Business Development.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or multiple years of Technology or PBM equivalent/relevant experience is required.
  • 5 + years of sales experience preferably in PBM Health Plan sales, Technology solutions; account strategies; meeting facilitation and presentation delivery and development.
