Job Description
Tinker Federal Credit Union’s Accounting department has an immediate opening for a Vice President Finance/Controller! As a Vice President Finance/Controller, you will be responsible for the following


  • Under the limited supervision of the EVP/CFO, the VP Finance/Controller will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the credit union’s financial services and departments.
  • Directing Automated Clearing House (ACH), share draft and member wire processing and regulatory compliance and liability risk.
  • Directing all financial, regulatory and tax reporting for TFCU.
  • Ensuring TFCU maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Regulatory Accounting Principles (RAP) and Internal Revenue codes.
  • Actively participating in the formulation and execution of institutional strategic and tactical initiatives that help to ensure the credit union meets or exceeds goals and objectives.
  • Directing and monitor Assets and Liability Management (ALM) reporting systems, short- and long-term financial projections, and the corporate budget.
  • Monitoring and analyze short- and long-term cash flow to ensure liquidity needs are met.
  • Properly recording of all financial transactions and the preparation of financial statements and reports for management, the Board of Directors, and regulators.
  • Supervising the Accounting and Payment Operations Department staff, analyzes monthly financial results, aids in preparing the TFCU budget, compliance, and internal reviews.


Salary Range


The salary range is starting at $189,086.98; however, actual placement within the range will be determined individually based on your experience relative to organizational needs and internal salary equity.


Education/Experience


You must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (with at least 30 credit hours in accounting) and eight years of increasingly progressive level experience within the financial industry (including a strong background in Asset/Liability Management and modeling techniques).


You must also have an additional two years of management/supervisory experience at a level with similar responsibility.


Applicable work experience and/or military experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two years of experience for one year of education. Applicable additional education levels may be eligible to satisfy experience requirements. A master’s degree is preferred.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


  • Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Incumbent Bonding REQUIRED by TFCU’s chosen authority.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required (Candidate designation may be considered). Experience may be substituted for certification designation at the rate of two years additional experience in addition to the minimum experience requirements.
  • CertifiedManagement Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.


Keys to success


In order to be successful as a {insert position title}, you must possess these qualifications


  • Ability to use and maintain basic, fundamental office equipment.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting for large financial institutions.
  • Ability to work with mainframe computers, including problem solving and maintenance of systems.
  • Ability to use ALM reporting systems.
  • Ability to use Credit Union and Accounting software.
  • Knowledge of branch/cost accounting, cash flow analysis and projections.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, RAP, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), regulatory compliance, corporate tax laws and financial ratios.
  • Knowledge of corporate tax returns and NCUA regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and projects under time constraints.
