VOIP Network Systems Engineer II - Contract - Remote

We seek a VOIP Network Systems Engineer II for a contract position in the Eastern or Central time zones. This remote role requires expertise in CISCO Unified Communications, Routing & Switching, and CISCO Certifications (CCNA). Join our client's team and contribute to their voice/telecom infrastructure.

Your Job

As a VOIP Network Systems Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in providing operational and engineering support for our client's voice/telecom infrastructure. Your expertise in CISCO Unified Communications, Routing & Switching, and CISCO Certifications (CCNA) will be essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of the system. You will be responsible for managing the trouble ticket queue, addressing end user queries and issues, and performing Move/Add/Change work. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to special projects such as upgrades and patching. Your technical documentation skills will be valuable in creating training materials for end users and system/process documentation for the team. The Work

  • Write technical documentation for end users (training docs) and team members (system/process documentation, network diagrams), facilitating knowledge sharing and system audits.
  • Assist other IT teams who interface with the Voice Team, fostering collaborative relationships and providing necessary support.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on special projects such as upgrades, patching, acquisitions/divestitures/mergers, and reconfigurations.
  • Manage the trouble ticket queue and promptly address voice-related incident tickets from end users, including break/fix issues and 'how-to' questions.
  • Provide operational and engineering support for the voice/telecom infrastructure, ensuring its smooth functioning.
  • Configure and deploy Cisco telephones and voicemail accounts, ensuring proper functioning and accessibility for end users.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in configuring and deploying Cisco telephones and voicemail accounts.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unified Communication X, and Cisco Telephony.
  • Possession of a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • Experience in managing trouble ticket queues for voice-related incident tickets and providing timely resolution to end users' issues.
  • Proficiency in Cisco voice infrastructure, including CUCM, Cisco IP Phones, Unity Connection, UCCX, Router gateways/CUBE (T1/SIP), and UCS/VMWare.
  • Strong knowledge of other voice infrastructures such as RightFax, BISCOM, Voice Spam Filtering system, and call recording technologies.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills for creating training materials for end users and system/process documentation for the team.

Nice to Have

  • Previous involvement in special projects like upgrades, patching, acquisitions/divestitures/mergers, or reconfigurations.
  • Experience in supporting other voice infrastructures in addition to Cisco, such as RightFax and BISCOM.
  • Familiarity with Voice Spam Filtering system and call recording technologies.
  • Knowledge of network diagrams and system audits for effective documentation and analysis.
  • Ability to travel to remote office locations for project needs.
